Statement

While both form and craft are valued and integral to my work, ideas are highly important to me. My work is largely conceptual and uses combined imagery designed as catalyst for thought.

In this society, we all share a common cultural reference, but our individual circumstances support very diverse beliefs. All of us are extremely protective of entrenched, pre-existing ideas: many actually define themselves by a value/belief system without much examination. We think and hear more defensively than with an open mind.

Images and objects have an amazing power to provoke strong feelings and ideas in ways totally different from text. The visual, although sometimes quite disturbing, may have more power to make an impression and shake things up a bit. I enjoy “think art” and working to open a challenging visual/verbal dialogue with my audience.
